20/02/2018What do interior design services include?

If you have decided to hire an interior designer, you are most likely wondering what exactly his services include and what your joint work consists of. The purpose of this article is to introduce you to the work of a designer, what to expect, what to demand and what to help with. And it was not by chance that I mentioned „joint work“, because in the process of designing and realizing the interior, a tandem is obtained between the designer and the client. The better the tandem, the better the result will be. It is not necessary for all designers to work in the way that I will share with you, but in my opinion (from experience and my personal opinion) this is the most correct method.
WHAT DO INTERIOR DESIGNER SERVICES INCLUDE?
1. Different variants of interior furniture layouts, according to the specific requirements for vision and functionality.
2. Three-dimensional visualizations of interior spaces. Renderings are optional, but will best represent the design project visually. This part of interior design is not cheap, but if you have a desire for a designer interior, not just furnishing and decorating, this is the best solution. With 3D visualizations, you will also avoid unwanted misunderstanding between the conceptual project and the final result, and there will be no confusion about who exactly imagined what. Important! The interior elements included in the design project must either be selected from the catalogs of existing companies or designed by the designer to be made to order. I emphasize this because there are many designers who use ready-made 3D libraries (which is not bad), without knowing if and where the relevant interior elements can be purchased. Or they design furniture or other elements without having construction knowledge (ie you get a picture that cannot be realized in whole or in part). Therefore, please ask your designer to show you the specific manufacturers or suppliers of the ready-made interior elements included in the concept project and to present a constructive proposal for the implementation of the more unusual ideas.
3. Drawings. After you already have an approved project – you can move on to drawings of the installations, drawings of the furniture and other interior elements that will be produced to order.
4. The interior designer will establish contacts with the relevant companies (manufacturers or suppliers) and will submit the necessary information and drawings.
5. He will advise you or choose the appropriate flooring, lighting, accessories, textiles and other interior elements.
WHAT IS CUSTOMER SUPPORT?
1. As a client, it is extremely important to know very well exactly what you want, because if you are not clear, the interior designer will be powerless to help you. Its task is to unite your sometimes different stylistic visions into a complete design project, but for the main you need to have a concept that does not change significantly during the design.
2. It is necessary to give the interior designer as accurate information as possible about the type of interior you envision and like and the functionality you need. I.e. to be as accurate as possible in the assignment. In this way, you make it easier for the designer (it will not be necessary to fundamentally redo the project), which leads you faster to the final result – the realization.
3. It is important to give your opinion, approval or decision in a timely manner on the issues, drawings or project that the designer asks of you, especially if you are pressed by a deadline. I share this with you because it often happens that I wait longer for the final decision of my clients and this ends up affecting the lead time or my design time, which if not enough will also affect the quality of the work.
4. To trust the designer. After you have chosen a designer, it is good to trust him, and not to constantly guide him and try to take an active part in his work. When you go to the dentist, you don’t specify how the filling should be done. It’s the same here. If you plan to tell the designer what to do, then you do not need him and it is absolutely pointless to use his services. You can save your money.
5. Sometimes you have to compromise. If you have too many specific requirements, but the architecture, budget or other factor does not allow all your wishes to be fulfilled – then a compromise is necessary. Do not insist and do not ask the designer to become a magician and „invent impossible things“. This only wastes time and makes no progress with the project.
6. Listen to the advice of the designer (specialist). He, like you, is interested in the success of the project and your satisfaction. A good advertisement or review is extremely important in this profession. A good designer can certainly better than you imagine your future interior in its entirety and advise you on the best solution according to your requirements.
By following these basic guidelines outlined in this article I guarantee you a truly excellent end result. And not only that – work will go smoothly and pleasantly for everyone. The next article will be devoted to the topic at which stage of the finishing works it is advisable to turn to an interior designer.
